Chemical Peels

Medical-grade skincare like chemical peels can nourish and replenish aging or sun-damaged skin to help your complexion look rejuvenated and refreshed. A chemical peel removes the outermost layer of skin cells to reveal the healthy, unblemished skin below, and comes in different degrees of intensity for customized results.

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Alexander Nein offers chemical peels as part of a full lineup of nonsurgical medical spa treatments for Nashville, Tennessee men and women. Dr. Nein also performs cosmetic surgery procedures for both face and body.

Considering Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels can play an important part of any skincare regimen, whether your goals are to diminish fine lines and wrinkles, clear and control acne breakouts, or improve your skin tone. However, it’s important to have realistic expectations about what a chemical peel can accomplish. Deeper lines and wrinkles may require additional treatments such as BOTOX® Cosmetic injections or injectable fillers.

The best results from chemical peels are seen in those patients who want a smoother, more radiant complexion along with more even skin tone and a refreshed appearance.

Planning Your Procedure

Because chemical peels come in different strengths, it’s important to schedule a consultation with our aesthetician, Diane, ahead of time so she can determine whether a light (superficial), medium, or deep peel will work best for you. During your consultation, Diane will discuss your hopes for the treatment with you and give you a physical evaluation to determine whether chemical peels are the best option to help you meet your cosmetic goals, or if she feels more comprehensive skin resurfacing could be a better choice.

Your Recovery & Results

Chemical peels are performed as an outpatient procedure, so most patients return home right away after their appointment. You may see some redness and flaking for a week or longer, depending on the depth of the peel performed.

After the initial healing period, your complexion should look smoother and irregular pigmentation like sun spots or freckles can look much lighter. Fine lines and wrinkles often appear less noticeable after a chemical peel, helping you to look fresh-faced and revitalized without cosmetic surgery.
